The start-up presented itself to the international trade public for the first time at the leading European trade fair for the packaging industry in Nuremberg.
KeepIn produces its technically up to 100% recyclable reusable products exclusively in Germany. The product portfolio currently includes foamed coffee cups, bowls and sushi trays as well as drinking cups. All products are optimized to use as little material as possible.
“For our trade fair premiere at Fachpack, we installed a coffee and espresso bar on the stand of our parent company Jokey,” explains Ramona Lob, Head of the Reusable Packaging business unit at the Jokey Group. “Our barista provided premium coffee enjoyment and the trade fair visitors were able to see the quality of our coffee cups for themselves,” continues Lob. The coffee cups are produced using a special foaming process (ecoCore® process). As a result, the cups are exceptionally well insulated and keep the drink hot for longer without burning your fingers when you touch them. When manufacturing its reusable packaging, KeepIn relies on innovative production technologies that save up to 50 percent material compared to conventional (plastic) reusable packaging. This saves resources, is more environmentally friendly and therefore causes less CO2 emissions. KeepIn has already won over national and international reusable packaging systems with its high-quality and safe reusable plastic packaging for food. At Fachpack, the young company provided information about cooperations with Relevo in Germany, the Danish deposit system New Loop and the Spanish reusable system Bumerang, among others.
“Fachpack was a complete success for KeepIn. We were able to make many new contacts and carry out important educational work on reusable systems and solutions,” says Ramona Lob. Education is a decisive factor in creating broad acceptance of reusable containers for food and drinks. In order for reusable containers to become the new standard, it is important to show how a reusable system can be quickly and easily integrated into existing business models, e.g. in the catering industry. “The positive feedback from trade visitors in Nuremberg confirms that we are on the right track and we are planning to further expand our successful trade fair cooperation with Jokey in the future,” Ramona Lob sums up.
KeepIn has already announced further products for the coming year at Fachpack. “From 2024, we have planned reusable packaging for pizza and burgers, among other things,” reports Christian Rhiemeier, Product Manager at KeepIn. “There will also finally be a sustainable reusable alternative for the well-known French fries trays,” Rhiemeier continues. All KeepIn products are dishwasher-safe and can be customized with permanent laser engraving or in-mould labeling, for example.
